Description

Daughter of Phorkys and Keto (Hekate Einalia), Medusa is one of three sisters, the others being Stheno and Euryale. While Goddesses, Medusa was the only one to be born mortal, making Her the target of Perseus. A consensual lover of Poseidon, the two often lay together in flowery meadows. She is also a Sea Goddess, and after Her beheading, She bore Poseidon two sons: the winged horse Pegasus, and Khrysaor. Through Her beheading, She gained Her immortality and was restored! Medusa is now the most powerful evil-averting force in the Cosmos, so powerful that She is recognized the world over. Even Her eye has endured the passage of time, becoming what we know as the Evil Eye charm.

This stunning original statue pays tribute to Medusa in Her original form. Her locks shake with venomous snakes, and She has two great wings extending from Her back, just as Her ancient iconography. This statue is my interpretation of the relief of Medusa from the Corfu Temple of Artemis that depicts the Goddess winged with a girdle of snakes, and full-bodied. We know this is Medusa after the beheading due to the appearance of Her sons at Her side.

Her eyes are vivid, natural malachite, and She is set with a deep wine-red garnet on Her chest, and rich green peridot which hangs from Her belt. Inside the statue is an amulet of black snake skin leather, malachite, lapis, garnet, black snake root, serpentine root, wormwood, black pepper, anise, and belladonna anointed with oils and red wine. She stands at an impressive 14 inches tall and is the first Medusa I have ever conjured.
