Hades, also spelled Haides, is the God of the Dead, and Ruler of the Underworld. He is also the Lord of Wealth and Riches, able to bestow these upon His devotees to make life more enjoyable until we are called to cross the River Styx into His domain. He, along with His wife Persephone, control the fertility of soil, particularly through the decaying of dead matter.
